Value-based reimbursement is no longer an idea for the future. It's here. It benefits the patient, the health care provider, and the payer because it encourages providers to deliver the best care at the lowest cost. That means higher quality of care that's more affordable and more sustainable.
However, most value-based reimbursement models have been implemented only at pilot-size scale, relying on a small subset of participants with very specific disease states and treatment needs. Enacting this innovative payment model at a scale large enough to yield significant impact is challenging, demanding ample clinical, analytic, and provider support resources.
